As temperatures continue to rise across Britain, parts of the country are set to be hit by "sharp thundery downpours" and "relentless breeze".
Despite the dramatic 21 degree swing expected by the end of the week thawing out the dreaded cold snap, forecasters are warning of more tumultuous weather to come.
Much of the country will creep into double figures today and tomorrow, with highs of 14C in parts a marked shift from the subzero temperatures which made Sunday night the coldest this winter.
BBC forecaster Louise Lear said temperatures over the next couple of days will be "way above where they should be" for this time of year.
But heavy showers are expected in the far north of Scotland on Thursday afternoon followed by "another batch of wet and windy weather" sweeping across much of England and Wales on Friday, according to the Met Office.

Meteorologist Clare Nasir said: "Temperatures in double figures, certainly a lot higher than the beginning of the week, and you'll notice the difference if you are stepping out.
"Though you may just about need an umbrella across some parts of England and Wales on Thursday afternoon, and certainly across the far north of Scotland some heavy showers to follow that rain and also a strong wind coming in from the west."
The Met Office forecaster went on to describe a "legacy of cloud further south across England and Wales before another batch of wet and windy weather sweeps across through into Friday".
And she warned that rush hour tomorrow morning could see plenty of surface water on the roads, as a result.
Wednesday morning started with temperatures hovering around freezing but this morning temperatures are peaking at 7 or 8C in a remarkable 24-hour turn around.
This is thanks to a south westerly wind moving in mild air through the night, which forecasters are predicting will remain for a few days yet - but it's a pesky band of low pressure which is causing the juxtaposing unsettled weather.
Ms Lear said last night: "This weather front will bring some heavier rain into Scotland, [while] the one down to the southwest a fairly weak affair but it will bring some patchy rain potentially into southwest England and the south, maybe some dense fog first thing in the morning here.
"A lot of cloud generally across England and Wales, thick enough for some drizzle into the afternoon.
"The rain in Scotland, well that shifts its way north allowing for some brighter spells into eastern central areas, windy where it's wet but mild for all."
She added that a "wet and windy" start to Friday will spread eastwards before weakening off considerably, "leaving a trail of sharp thundery downpours" in the northwest despite the mild temperatures.
