Britain could bake in the aftermath of Hurricane Larry, the Met Office said.
Sun-starved Britons will get their last chance of summertime in September after a disappointing August and flash flooding in the capital in late July.
There are hopes the tropical storm could bring dry, warmer climes to the UK next week.
Hurricane Larry has already hit Newfoundland, Canada on Saturday.
Dry and warm weather will set in as the storm spills across the Atlantic, the Met Office said.
However, temperatures won’t reach the “crazily warm” highs of 30C which London enjoyed earlier this week.
Met Office forecaster Alex Deakin told The Sun: “At the moment it does look like high pressure will be the more dominant feature. It won’t be as crazily warm as it was through the first half of this week and it will be cold at night but it could mean fine and dry weather.
“The battle between high and low pressure will continue into the start of next week. On the face of it, it does look like the high is going to win out but low pressure to the south can’t be ruled out.
“It depends on the exact position of the jet stream and how things interact with Hurricane Larry.”
Temperatures will climb higher than 20C between September 14 and September 22.
