UK weather forecast as Liverpool to sizzle in 23C this weekend

Liverpool is set to sizzle this weekend with temperatures of up to 23C

And the UK is set to experience a mini heatwave next week, with the unpredictable and drizzly weather seen recently making way for sunshine.

According to the Met Office, conditions are expected to become more settled in the next few days.

The settled weather will bring temperatures to above normal for most areas, with the south possibly seeing warm or very warm temperature at times.

Other spots of the country will see clear skies and light winds at night while widespread mist or fog may develop.

The warm weather in the south could also bring some thundery activity, especially in the south west after an extended warm spell.

But there is uncertainty surrounding the duration of the settled weather with a potential return to more unsettled weather by the end of the period.

The following week will see overall temperatures likely to average out to near normal.

It's expected temperatures will likely fluctuate with the weather, with the unsettled conditions bringing cooler spells, followed by warmer spells as it settles back down.

Referring to Thursday, BBC forecaster Phil Avery said "There will be some sunshine to go with that rather chilly start. But as I get you on into the afternoon, I think the cloud is going to fill in and the sunshine will become ever more fleeting.

"And not just as warm as we've seen it of late."

He went on to say it would be a "wet and windy start" for Scotland and Northern Ireland on Friday, before warning "don't bank on it being a dry day" in northern England and northern Wales where rain is likely after lunch.

And save again for the far north, there's more dry weather to be had on Saturday with top temperatures around 20C.
