UK weather forecast: Another scorcher as extreme heat warning remains

People all across the UK have been crowding parks and beaches as temperatures reached record highs over the past few days.

The Met Office even issued its first ever extreme heat warning for the UK as they predicted temperatures possibly reaching 33C.

Although it has shifted slightly, the amber warning remains for all of south-west England and parts of Wales and the Midlands.

A note accompanying the alert warned of health effects on vulnerable people and sunburn for the wider population.

The high temperatures are expected to stay in place till around Thursday, with cooler temperatures to set in from Friday.

What is the UK weather forecast?

Today is expected to be another very warm and sunny day for most of the UK, with some clouds to the northeast during parts of the day.

Some areas will see some heavy and thundery showers develop in isolation and amber alerts remain in the South of England.

An extreme heat warning has been declared in Northern Ireland and will be in place until Friday.

Morning

It will be a sunny and dry start to the day again across much of the country, with some clouds along the North East.

The clouds will move to the Eastern coastline and those areas will stay cooler than the rest of the UK.

Afternoon

Temperatures remain high particularly across South West England, Wales and the South West of Northern Ireland.

Temperatures will top 30C in parts of Wales and even the Northern regions of Scotland will see temperatures of around 20C.

The extreme heat in the South of England will likely trigger some isolated thunderstorms and heavy showers into the afternoon.

Evening

Northern Ireland will remain dry and hot into the evening as will much of England and Wales.

The thunderstorms will cease in the South West and temperatures in the region will peak around 22C.

Scotland will see a slight temperature drop to around 14C and some cloudy spells in Aberdeen and surrounding areas.

By midnight temperatures will remain high across England and Wales with London and Cardiff experiencing 25C heat through the night – with similar temperatures seen for much of the UK.
