UK weather for Monday: Some cloud and rain but with sunny spells

After a weekend of lovely weather, with plenty of sunshine, some cloud and rain are on their way.

On Monday, the Met Office forecast is for early cloud and rain over eastern UK which will clear away eastwards.

Otherwise, sunny spells but also a few showers and less windy and not quite as warm as Sunday.

The outlook for the rest of the week is mostly dry and sunny, becoming warm in southern and central areas.

There will be stronger winds and a weakening band of rain which will affect northwestern parts later Tuesday into Wednesday.

There'll be sunny spells throughout Monday morning with isolated showers. Skies will clear into the afternoon, bringing longer spells of sunshine. Winds easing throughout. Maximum temperature 15C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday

Some cold starts to come on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but with plenty of long and warm spells of sunshine once any early patchy fog clears.
