UK weather: Exact date 20C temperatures start next month in 16 day heatwave

With further unsettled weather forecast for this weekend, it feels like summer may never arrive.

However, there is a sign of drier conditions on the horizon.

From Tuesday, there will be some indications of temperatures starting to climb towards more typical figures for the time of year.

This spell of weather will likely keep nights cooler than the long-term average, but warmer days compared to what we’ve seen recently.

And according to some forecasters, we're set to see a 16-day heatwave in June.

Bank Holiday Monday on May 31 is forecast to see blistering highs of 20C with temperatures expected to return to warmer climates from next week, reports BirminghamLive.

And between June 15 and July 1, temperatures will top 20C each day, according to reports.

London and the south is expected to see the best of the weather, but parts of the North will also experience far better weather than May has given us.

This month could be one of the wettest Mays on record, surpassing 1967, when 131.7mm of rain fell across the UK.

The forecast for Liverpool currently reads: "Residual rain continuing in some areas during this evening before gradually clearing for most through the night, leaving the region rather cloudy by the morning.

"Saturday is largely cloudy at first, but skies slowly brightening up in the afternoon. A few showers for some are possible throughout the day. Feeling rather cool for this time of year."
