Terrifying video footage shows planes at Newcastle Airport taking off and landing in strong crosswinds.
A number of planes can be seen fighting the strong winds as they take off at worryingly steep angles.
While those coming in to land would have had a bumpy ride with a number of aircrafts coming in to land almost diagonally across the runway before straightening up at the last second.
The footage was recorded on Sunday as the Met Office issued a wind warning for northern England and the East Midlands.
Jonathan Winton who recorded the footage, said: “As a direct crosswind this obviously makes the conditions for landing a lot tougher than if say the wind is gusting directly from the West or East.
“The conditions were cold, wet and windy. Altogether not the most pleasant for being stood outside.”
Over the weekend parts of the UK were battered by heavy storms.
Parts of Wales were left without electricity on Sunday as overhead cables were felled.
Strong northerly winds with gusts of up to 70mph pounded the west and east coasts.
Looking ahead to this week, the UK is set to experience its first widespread snow of 2019.
Snowfall is expected on Tuesday for a huge portion of south-east England.
This includes London - where there is an 80 per cent chance of a whiteout in central parts of the capital - the Home Counties, Norfolk and the east Midlands.
Up to 3cm of the white stuff is expected in this zone, for which the Met Office has issued a weather warning from 9pm on Tuesday to noon on Wednesday.
The agency warned the “heavy” dusting could lead to travel delays on roads, with “some stranded vehicles and passengers”. Rural communities could be “cut off”, it said.
