UK weather charts predict heatwave with Atlantic jetstream pushing ‘38C heat’ across Westcountry

A jetstream from the Atlantic will push hot air with temperatures around '38C' across the South of England next month, the latest UK weather charts reveal.

Netweather.uk’s latest graphics show hot air from the middle of the Atlantic will drop south before meandering north, across A Coruna, in Spain, Northern France, and England on August 1.

Graphics estimate the red band of hot air will be around 100F - or nearly 38C - and could move in at the beginning of next month.

Whether the south of England will experience such temperatures remains to be seen, but recent graphics published ahead of the current heatwave, which is coming to an end this weekend, proved to be accurate.

However, the Met Office says it’s likely this period will see mixed weather conditions, but that sunny periods are likely.

The long range forecast for July 27 until August 5 states “there is a risk of more persistent and heavy rain” but that “temperatures are likely to dip back to near normal to warm for most.

The Met Office states: "An unsettled start to the period with most places seeing showers developing by day on Tuesday, these possibly thundery at times.

"There is also a risk of more persistent and heavy rain affecting northern Scotland. Conditions remain changeable mid-week with outbreaks of rain moving in from the west, further thundery showers in between any drier interludes and stronger winds for the time of year.

"Temperatures are likely to dip back to near normal to warm for most. From the end of next week until early August, we will likely see changeable conditions with a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers, perhaps with some more prolonged rain at times.

"Currently, there is no preference towards any particular area seeing one regime dominate. Temperatures around average."
