UK weather: Brits to sizzle in 27°C heat in warmest week - check forecast in your area

The warmest weather of the year so far is expected to heat the UK this week, with some areas topping 27°C by tomorrow.

Brits are set to enjoy sunny spells and dramatic thunderstorms with the Met Office issuing weather warnings for swathes of the country.

While this lowers the prospect of a full-on heatwave, the Met Office promises parts of the UK will be "very warm".

The West Country-based forecaster's predictions show temperatures reaching a peak of of 27°C in London and 24°C in the North.

And a mixed bag of sunshine and summer spells should stabilise by the weekend as high pressures will build again.

Met Office forecaster Richard Miles told the Mirror: "Today will be dry, fine and warm, particularly in the south east which will be very warm, but in the coming week it will be sunny spells and heavy showers.

"Everyone will see a shower."
