Brits have been flocking to the beach today as temperatures rise across the country - with predictions of a 12-day heatwave on the cards.
A plume of warm air sweeping across the UK from Spain and the Azores could see the mercury rise to 27C for some.
It comes after weeks of damp and dreary weather throughout August, with some areas experiencing flash flooding that brought destruction to homes and businesses.
The warm front has seen Brits heading outside to soak up the sunshine, with crowds flocking to beaches to cool off.
In Cambridge, punters took a trip down the river - while in London people gathered in city parks to relax.

The Met Office's Alex Deakin said: "High pressure is bringing sunny skies and they will stick around for the rest of this week and into the weekend."
A Met Office forecaster said: "From Monday will be mainly fine and dry, with rather warm temperatures in the west initially and more widely later in the last week of August and into September.
"There will be increasing amounts of sunshine, with high pressure -likely to dominate, with settled conditions."
The brighter weather is in stark contrast to recent weeks which have seen Brits lashed by relentless downpours as well as a relatively chilly weather for the summer month.
And looking ahead to September the country is predicted to bask in a glorious 27C heatwave.

A hot plume from Spain and the Azores is expected to bring sunnier weather across the country and NetWeather predicts the high temperature to peak on Saturday September 4.
The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze said: "It's a major change after wet weather. There should be a good deal of sunshine."

John Hammond of weathertrending said: "It will be late summer at its best, with a sunnier finale to a dull August
"The mid-20s is possible by midweek, with the fine weather holding on for the bank holiday weekend and for a few more days into September for most."
