UK weather: Britain set to bathe in sizzling temperatures for Easter weekend

Bring out the barbecue because Britain is set to be bathed in welcome warmer air for the Easter holiday weekend.

It won’t be wall-to-wall sunshine and there is a risk of showers, but there will be a noticeable increase in temperatures following the chill of this week.

High pressure from the west will bring warmer air from Monday, with temperatures well above-normal from Wednesday and there should be some dry and bright spells in many locations.

Most places should enjoy some good weather for the holiday weekend.

It will be driest in the north for Good Friday with some cloud and outbreaks of rain in the south and brighter conditions further north.

There will be quite a split across the nation as the weekend progresses with more unsettled weather in the south with any rain easing from Saturday to Easter Monday.

Temperatures will edge above-normal with warmest conditions in the south-east and slightly cooler further north. Current models show values of 16-17C in the south-east and 14-15C in the north.

A spokesperson for The Weather Channel said: “We are looking at above-normal temperatures over the Easter weekend but a mixed outlook with drier conditions to the north and cloudier with outbreaks of rain to the south.

“It will be unsettled on Friday and Saturday before turning drier for Sunday and Monday.

“High pressure over the north and low pressure passing to the south will drive a southerly flow on Good Friday, but pressure is expected to lower from the north-west again and develop a less warm west-northwesterly flow from Sunday into Monday.

“Temperatures could trend closer to normal into Easter Monday.”
