Britain looks set to be drenched by heavy downpours on Wednesday following sunny spells and highs of 19C, forecasters say.
Tuesday will get off to a dry and bright start for much of the UK, with some rain expected in the Northern Ireland, northwest England and eastern Scotland.
There is a chance of some isolated showers across the Pennines and Midlands, forecasters say, as cloud builds up throughout the day.
Temperatures will remain relatively warm, with highs of 19C expected in southeast England. The mercury will struggle to get above 16C across the country more broadly.
By Wednesday, things will become wet for large swathes of the UK.
“The low pressure bringing that rain will become very slow-moving, right over the top of the UK for Wednesday,” said BBC forecaster Chris Fawkes.
“Wednesday is going to be a wet day, with some fairly heavy, prolonged outbreaks of rain.”
Southwest, southeast, eastern and northwest England will see the worst of that wet weather, with thermometers hovering around 15C. London may see highs of 18C.
Things will be a bit chillier north of the border in Scotland where the temperatures could drop as low as 12C in Aberdeen.
It will be more of the same on Thursday when it will be wet and cloudy across large parts of the UK, with just a few patches of sun in northern Scotland.
It will be chilly with a strong north-easterly breeze and that cloudy conditions continuing into Friday.
Heavy rain is likely in the south. Showers in the north will be lighter and more fragmented, with brisk north-easterly winds.
