UK travellers may face strict additional restrictions when visiting France and other EU countries.
In an effort to control the spread of the Omicron Covid-19 variant, France, Italy, and Spain are all reportedly considering introducing new rules for visitors from the UK.
One restriction that is reportedly being considered by the French Government is the requirement of a PCR test upon arrival in the country.

Bringing in new restrictions now would add to the cost of Christmas holiday trips abroad, as reported by Hull Live.
French government spokesperson Gabriel Attal said: "Regarding Britain, the current rule is to show a negative test less than 48 hours old in order to enter France.

"But we are always looking at means to tighten the framework. We are currently working on that and we should, I think, come to a conclusion in the coming days.”
It is expected that France will mirror the testing requirements of the UK for French visitors.
This would mean UK visitors to France would have to complete a PCR or lateral flow test within 48 hours of departure for France, followed by a PCR test on arrival.
It is likely the new requirement would apply to anybody aged over 12.
