UK travel ban: Morocco stops British tourists again as omicron covid cases surge

Morocco has extended its ban on British tourists from entering its borders as omicron cases continue to soar across the UK.

The popular destination for winter sun-seekers banned flights to and from the UK back in October due to the worsening situation and has now made the call to continue the measures until the end of January.

Morocco's National Office of Airports (ONDA) has since confirmed that the "suspension of all passenger flights to and from Morocco will be extended until January 31, 2022", reports The Sun.

As a result, budget airline Ryanair has cancelled all flights to and from the country until February 1 - with thousands of UK tourists urged to reschedule any holidays booked to the destination.

The latest update from the Foreign Office reads: "The Moroccan Government has announced the suspension for an unspecified period of direct flights between Morocco and the UK (and Germany and The Netherlands) with effect from midnight 20 October.

"Travellers affected by flight cancellations should contact their airline or tour operator for advice on alternative routes via third countries (eg France, Spain) where flights are operating as normal."
