UK to be hotter than Ibiza this weekend as heatwave set to return

  • Parts of England are set to experience a fresh heatwave this weekend, with temperatures forecast to reach up to 32C and potentially 33C by Monday.
  • Yellow heat health alerts have been issued by the UK Health Security Agency for the South East, East of England, London, and the East Midlands, remaining in place until Monday.
  • These alerts indicate a greater risk to vulnerable individuals and anticipate higher demand for health and care services.
  • According to the Met Office, parts of southern England are expected to approach 30C by Friday, with some areas likely to meet heatwave criteria by Saturday and more widely on Sunday.
  • Meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey warned of humid conditions, while Met Office deputy chief forecaster Gregory Wolverson said: “We might not all see the wall-to-wall sunshine and blue skies we experienced back in May because there is more cloud around. There is also a chance of thunderstorms developing in places, particularly later each day.”
