The UK terror threat has been increased to "severe" in the wake of the Liverpool hospital explosion meaning an attack is "highly likely''.
Home Secretary Priti Patel confirmed the terror threat had been escalated because there had been two attacks in the space of a month.
She said: "The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre, Jtac, are now increasing the United Kingdom's threat level from substantial to severe.
"And there's a reason for that, and that reason is because what we saw yesterday is the second incident in a month."
Boris Johnson chaired a meeting of the Government's COBRA emergency committee at lunchtime after expressing his horror at the attack.
