The UK could be hit by half a month’s worth of rain in just a few days as a downpour continues across the country.
Rain is forecast for much of the country, including the south of England, the Met Office said.
The forecaster said the most hard-hit areas could see 50mm of rainfall by the end of Tuesday.
On Saturday, rainfall and strong winds are expected throughout the day in the southwest of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
A yellow weather warning is also in place for much of Northern Ireland on Saturday.

Sustained showers are expected throughout the UK for the rest of the week, possibly accompanied by thunder in some places.
The Met Office said that on Saturday it expected: “Locally heavy rain and strong winds (to) edge eastwards overnight, with far eastern areas remaining mostly dry until morning. Rain heaviest in the west, particularly over Northern Ireland.
“Rain steadily clears east throughout Sunday, not clearing eastern areas until the evening. Dry for a time after, before scattered showers arrive from the west. Rather windy for all.”
A spokesperson added that worse weather could be expected to come from Monday to Wednesday.
They said: “Blustery showers on Monday with thunder possible. Fewer and lighter showers on Tuesday with some sunny spells.
“Further rain possible on Wednesday. Rather windy at times and temperatures near average.”
