UK's top Covid modelling body details exactly how effective each of the different vaccinations are against cases, illness, hospitalisation and death

Over 2.2 million people in Wales have now had as least one dose of the Covid vaccine with over 1.8m having had two.

Most people will have had either the Pfizer or Astra Zeneca vaccine though some may have had the Moderna jab.

However these vaccines are not 100% effective, especially after one dose.

With cases on the rise in Wales it is worth understanding how much protection these vaccines actually offer you. This not only covers death and serious illness but also the likelihood of passing on the disease to family members after your jab.

This information comes from the latest papers released by Sage (the group of scientists and experts that advise the UK Government) who are drawing from three separate pieces of research from Warwick University, Imperial College London and The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

Each study has slightly different findings so in order to come to a single figure WalesOnline has taken the middle figure. It is important to note that this is not an exact way to portray the data but does make it more accessible. I f you want to see the full details you can click here.
