UK's 'most unloved cat' looking for new home after being chucked out by four owners

This Valentine's Day, one adorable moggy is hoping to find a home with plenty of love, after having been kicked out by her previous four owners. Seren is 12-years-old and currently resides at a Cats Protection adoption centre in Evesham, Worcestershire, where she's been cared for on and off since April 2021.

Beautiful Seren has had no issue with being snapped up, having been adopted by four new owners course of the last two years. Unfortunately, she's been brought swiftly back to the shelter each time, due to would-be owners struggling with her settling-in style.

Seren has never lasted more than two weeks with a new owner before being returned for rehoming, with one stint lasting just two days, and is said to be the charity's 'most-returned moggy'.

According to Cats Protection staff, Seren is always calling for attention and adores being cuddled, however, she can become defensive when navigating new surroundings if she feels unsafe.

Despite her difficulties, however, staff believe a patient owner willing to give Seren time to adjust would soon become her very 'best friend'.

Louise Hill, who works as a cat care assistant at the shelter, said: “Seren is such a character and really brightens up my day at the centre. I love her unique personality and how vocal she is.

"Seren is always calling for attention, and she wants nothing more than to sit on your lap and have a cuddle."

She continued: “Seren does have some anxieties when she first goes into a new home, so she is looking for an experienced owner who understands cat behaviour.

"She needs someone who is willing to let Seren blossom at her own pace. With time, she will become your best friend and definitely keep you entertained.”

Seren first came to the shelter one week before her 11th birthday. Her owner had moved in with a new partner who was also a cat owner, and, sadly, the two cats didn't gel together well at all.

The black and white feline's current stay at the adoption centre has now exceeded two months. In that time, she's seen all her fellow cats find homes and humans to call their own, with no such luck herself.

For her ideal forever home, Seren is seeking an adult-only household with no other pets, in an area with a low cat population.

Adoption centre manager Charlie Hood said: "If you can give Seren time and allow her to call the shots, she soon reveals herself to be a loving cat who enjoys spending time with you and will happily chat and enjoy fuss once she has come out of her shell.

"She loves to play with a crinkly ball that makes a noise when she taps it and is a great fan of catnip! Seren has been used to having her own space and will need the freedom to be with you when she wants but also to go off on her own when she needs some space."

She continued: "We've discovered that Seren loves watching what's going on outside so a rarely used space to call her own, ideally with views for her to enjoy, such as a conservatory would be our dream match for her.

"A conservatory would also give Seren the chance to see people approach, making her less likely to be shocked and scared by a sudden arrival."
