Listen to James Newman, UK's Eurovision entry for 2020

A star who has worked with Ed Sheeran, Rudimental and Olly Murs has been unveiled as the UK's next entry for Eurovision 2020.

James Newman will represent the UK when Eurovision is held in Rotterdam in May.

He is in fact, an older brother to much-loved singer John Newman, 29, who had No1 hits with Love Me Again and Blame.

John has posted teasers on his social media in recent days, hinting  that he might have helped write the song which his brother will perform.

One post read, "It’s a family affair", while another declared “huge week incoming”, reports The Mirror .

The song is called My Last Breath.

He said: “It’s such an honour to be representing the United Kingdom this year at Eurovision – I still can’t quite believe it! I’m also so proud to be taking ‘My Last Breath’ as the song.

“I wrote it with some of my best friends, who are also amazingly talented songwriters in their own right. I knew it was ‘the one’ after first recording it, I just loved the simplicity and universal message of the song.”

Newman has previously worked with Rudimental, as well as artists including Ed Sheeran and Calvin Harris.

His brother, the singer John Newman, joked on social media that it was a “family affair”, adding: “This is gunna be like an oasis head to head race to the top battle bro @JamesNewmanUk haha #eurovision.”
