UK's cheapest supermarket updated - with price comparisons from Asda, Aldi, Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons

Britain's cheapest supermarket has been updated, and it's good news for fans of one bargain brand in particular.

It will come as no surprise to hear that Aldi is once again the cheapest supermarket in the country - beating the likes of Lidl, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons to the top spot.

According to Birmingham Live, Which?  has today announced  that Aldi has maintained its position as the cheapest supermarket in the UK for September.

The price comparison looked at the cost for a trolley of 70 items, including groceries and household essentials.

And the analysis showed Aldi coming in the cheapest at just £60.01 –  a whopping £18.27 less than Tesco, a difference of 26.4 per cent.

Coronavirus: Latest restrictions at UK supermarkets amid panic buying and second lockdown fears

Speaking about the results, Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: "We know that this is a difficult time for so many families who are feeling the financial impact of Covid-19 and so we are incredibly proud to have maintained our position as the UK’s cheapest supermarket."

She added: "Now more than ever, we know just how important it is to continue providing our customers with the best value products of any supermarket."
