The UK’s cheapest supermarket has been announced and none of the ‘big four’ have been named in the top spot.
After an independent price comparison survey by trade magazine The Grocer, the supermarket that topped the list was Aldi.
The analysis showed that the ‘big four’ - Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons - are £10.15 (23%) more expensive than Aldi on a basket of 33 everyday items. Aldi’s most expensive rival, Waitrose, is £25.06 (56%) pricier.
The Grocer’s survey found that shoppers buying the goods from Tesco would be £10.23 (23%) worse off, than if they were to buy them from Aldi.
