Yorkshire folk have the biggest stash of cash in the UK.
Over-50s there average £52,600 in savings, investments and equity including property, a poll found.
Bottom of the table was the East Midlands – including cities such as Nottingham, Leicester and Derby – where the average person has just £13,600 to their name.
The study of 3,000 people across the UK by over-50s experts SunLife found one in five had £100 or less.
SunLife’s Simon Stanney said: “While over-50s in East Midlands have the lowest savings, a fifth of all over-50s don’t have any at all.”
Over-70s had an average £67,300.
Meanwhile the average monthly income for over-50s households was £2,175 – with outgoings at £1,833.
Biggest spend was on food and drink, at £275, while council tax and holidays were second at £129.
It also included £149 a month on savings.
