Almost a year ago, on 16 March 2020, health secretary Matt Hancock told the House of Commons that all unnecessary social contact should cease, marking the first step in the UK’s first national lockdown. Since then, all four nations have lived under a variety of restrictions, from limits on social gatherings to the closure of schools.
