Today, the UK recorded it's highest number of daily coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.
The government said 78,610 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the UK as of 9am on Wednesday.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have now been 172,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

46,842,497 second doses have been delivered, an increase of 37,888. A combined total of 24,732,162 booster and third doses have also been given, a day-on-day rise of 656,711.
