Another 18,270 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK - the highest number since February 5.
A further 23 deaths have also been reported, official figures show.
Daily positive cases have been rising in Britain for a month but a rapid vaccination programme appears to have largely broken the link between infections and deaths, with daily fatalities remaining around 20 or lower.
On Friday, 15,810 new cases were reported.
The data also showed that 83.7% of adults had had a first dose of the vaccine and 61.2% had had two.
More than 44 million people have now had their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine - after 200,383 were jabbed during what was a bumper day of events on Friday.

Another 158,307 second jabs were also administered, taking that total to 32,244,223, with people having formed lengthy queues to get their shots at venues including Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and Watford’s Vicarage Road.
From this weekend hundreds of walk-in NHS Covid-19 vaccination sites without the need for appointments as part of the NHS ‘grab a jab’ campaign.
Anyone aged 18 or over can turn up at the sites, which include football stadiums, theatres, supermarket car parks and shopping centres,to reach as many people as possible.

Sir Simon Stevens, NHS chief executive, said: “With more than 63 million jabs already delivered by the NHS in England, we’re now in a race to the finish line.
“It’s now easier than ever to get your life-saving jab, and the more of us who are vaccinated the safer and freer we all will be.
“So this weekend why not join millions of others and ‘GrabAJab’ to take advantage of this life-saving protection."
The NHS will publicise the sites locally so people can choose the best location for them, or they can type in their postcode at nhs.uk/grab-a-jab to find their nearest sites.
The Government has set a target of July 19 for offering a first dose to all adults - the date when the final stage of lockdown easing is scheduled to go ahead.
Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi and London Mayor Sadiq Khan joined a London vaccine summit on Friday in a bid to boost jab uptake in the capital, which lags behind the rest of England.
