UK records 30,215 Covid cases in second rise in two days - along with 86 new deaths

The number of new Covid cases has risen for the second day in a row in Britain but dipped by almost 3 percent from this time last week.

Today 30,215 people were confirmed as having tested positive, compared to last Thursday's figure of 31,117.

A further 86 fatalities were announced today - one more than the 85 logged a week ago.

The data released this afternoon also shows positive cases are down by 10.4 percent in the last seven days.

Yesterday there were 29,312 new official infections and 119 deaths within 28 days of testing positive, as the virus fatalities surpassed 130,000 in Britain.

The initial sharp decline in new infections since July 19 had puzzled experts, with a huge surge in new cases expected after restrictions were lifted on Freedom Day.
