UK police chase through Ilford leaves 10 injured in overnight crash

A multi-vehicle collision in east London left ten people injured after what witnesses described as a police chase through residential streets in the early hours of Friday morning.

The crash happened just after 12.30am at the junction of Barley Lane and Goodmayes Road in Ilford. Emergency services responded in large numbers with ambulance crews, specialist paramedics and London's air ambulance all attending the scene.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed it received the call at 12.34am. A spokesperson said the service sent "ambulance crews, an incident response officer, our joint response unit, an advanced paramedic practitioner, members of our Hazardous Areas Response Team (HART) and London's air ambulance."

Ten patients were treated at the scene. Nine were taken to hospital where they remain. One person declined further treatment.

High Road was shut in both directions while paramedics worked at the scene. Bus routes were diverted and drivers were asked to avoid the area. The disruption lasted into the morning with officers still present at the site hours after the collision.

The scale of the emergency response reflected how serious the incident was. HART teams are typically deployed in situations that involve significant risk or complexity and their presence underlined the severity of what unfolded on those streets overnight.

Details around the police chase itself remain limited. It is not yet clear how many vehicles were involved in the collision or what triggered the pursuit in the first place. The Metropolitan Police has not yet issued a formal statement about the incident.
