Police in Britain said Monday they had arrested 31 suspected online child abusers for exploring thousands of sexual abuse images, as part of a large scale operation to fight these practices, AFP reported.
The raids took place between September 28 and October 3 and led to the arrest of "31 suspects, confiscation of over 300 pieces of evidence, and execution of 91 search warrants, in addition to protecting 100 children," London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
The force added it is now examining tens of thousands of child abuse and exploitation images on phones, tablets, and laptops as part of their investigations.
The operation was executed by a Metropolitan Police cell as part of a campaign aimed at combating online sexual abuses targeting children. The cell includes over 200 experts.
