The UK Parliament is to close later today (Wednesday) over fears about how fast the coronavirus could spread in Westminster.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Parliament had reduced the number of days it sits from three to one.
The UK Parliament will be suspended once the Coronavirus Bill has been debated by the House of Lords and given approval by the Queen.
Jacob Rees-Mogg, the leader of the Commons, laid a motion saying parliament would adjourn on Wednesday night for a month until 21 April.
The emergency coronavirus legislation gives government ministers in all four nations new powers to manage and contain the pandemic.
After pressure from MPs, including the SNP MP Joanna Cherry, the government announced a six-month renewal clause on the powers.
MPs will be able to debate and vote on the scope of the powers, which include powers for the police to enforce lockdown rules.
On Tuesday, the Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament issued new guidance for people who work on the parliament's estate.
As well as a curtailing of the parliament's sitting days, other restrictions are in place to support social distancing.
