UK opinion polls: Boris Johnson's lead over Jeremy Corbyn narrows

Boris Johnson has a seven-point lead over Jeremy Corbyn, according to the latest polling ahead of the December general election.

Data collected by ICM on behalf of Reuters between November 1 and 4 shows that the Conservative party has 38 per cent of support, while Labour has 31 per cent.

The Liberal Democrats were on 15 per cent and the Brexit Party behind with nine per cent.

A total of 2,047 people were quizzed online about their voting intentions over the weekend, with the result showing a narrowing of the gap forecast last week in an exclusive poll for the Evening Standard, which had Mr Johnson’s party ahead by 17 points.

ICM said the survey showed the two main parties losing a similar proportion of voters over Brexit.

It said 11 per cent of those voted Conservative at the last election in 2017 were now planning to vote for the Brexit Party, while 12 per cent of those who backed Labour in 2017 intended to vote for the Liberal Democrats.

More than two-thirds of those who voted Remain in the Brexit referendum in 2016 and for the Conservatives in 2017 intended to stick with Johnson's Conservatives, ICM said.
