UK man, 21, killed after walking into helicopter blade in Greece

A 21-year-old British tourist has been killed in Athens after reportedly walking into helicopter rotor blade. The man is reported to have been flying from Myknos to Athens with his brother, as the rest of his family followed in a helicopter behind.

But after landing he is said to have walked behind the Bell 407 helicopter, into the tail rotor, causing massive injuries. The accident happened at 6.20pm local time on Monday.

The pilot is said to have contacted his colleague in the second helicopter to have that flight diverted to another airport. The family was planning on flying from Athens back to the UK before the accident.

Reports say an investigation is now under way into how the passengers were allowed to get off when the rotor blades were still in motion.

The Foreign Office has been contacted for comment.
