UK jewellery chain Links of London collapses into administration

A UK retailer which stocks jewellery in stores across Bristol has fallen into administration.

Links of London supplies Ernest Jones in Cabot Circus and at Cribbs Causeway, as well as John Lewis in the city. The collapse of the retailer has put 350 jobs at risk.

Business services company Deloitte has been appointed to manage the administration process, which follows a failed sale of the business by Greek owner Folli Follie.

Joint administrator Matt Smith told Business Live: "The company has had to contend with difficult trading conditions that have impacted the whole retail sector.

"The directors have been seeking alternative solutions, including consideration of a CVA, refinancing or sale, but have unfortunately been unable to conclude such a transaction.

"In light of ongoing cash flow pressures, this has left the directors with no choice but to place the business into administration."

Links of London will continue to trade for the time being and it is not yet known when stores will close.

Everything you need to know about going into administration

The news comes as the high street continues to be blighted by difficulties.

Just this week, it was announced independent travel firm Hays Travel had bought up Thomas Cook and is hoping to save 2,500 jobs.
