The mercury hit 31C in Heathrow, with experts predicting it could creep up to 33C in the south of England.
Forecasters and medics are urging people to take extra precautions to stay safe in the sun, with a level two heat alert issued by the Met Office for England.
The lockdown heatwave is expected to intensify even further tomorrow with temperatures likely climb to 34C. Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill has also said that UV levels will be “exceptionally high” over the next couple of days.
