- According to the Met Office , 2026 has now seen four individual days reach or surpass the 36C mark.
- Provisional data from the forecaster indicates that by early afternoon on Thursday, Charlwood in Surrey had recorded 36.7C, Wisley in Surrey stood at 36.5C, Teddington in London reached 36.1C, and Pershore College in Worcestershire registered 36C.
- An amber weather warning for "extreme heat " issued by the forecaster has come into force across large areas of England, encompassing parts of the south and east along with broad swathes of the Midlands. Meanwhile, a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms remains active for Northern Ireland.
- Members of the public are being advised to keep out of direct sunlight during peak hours and take necessary precautions to avoid becoming seriously unwell from overheating, dehydration, heat exhaustion, or heatstroke.
