THE UK Government's flagship cyber security conference will take place in Wales in 2021.
The CYBERUK event was planned to be staged this week at the ICC Wales in Newport, but was postponed due to the pandemic.
Now the National Cyber Security Centre, which is a part of GCHQ, has confirmed the event will be held at the same venue next May.
CYBERUK will together more than 2,500 delegates, with a focus on ensuring the UK leads the way when it comes to cyber resilience.
Ciaran Martin, of the NCSC, said: “CYBERUK is a great opportunity to bring together experts from around the globe, and while the postponement of the Newport conference was unavoidable it was clearly disappointing.
“So it’s fantastic that we’ll be coming together at this great venue next year to share ideas and insights from across the industry.”
CYBERUK, which is delivered at no cost to the public purse, brings together government, academia and industry whilst offering unrivalled networking opportunities.
Previous conferences had been held in England and Scotland, and the 2021 event the first to be hosted in Wales.
Secretary of State for Wales Simon Hart said: “I’m delighted that Wales will play host to CYBERUK next year, an event which develops global expertise in a crucial industry to keep people safe.
“The ICC in Newport will showcase the best of what Wales has to offer next year, as delegates develop their knowledge in this important field.”
Digital Infrastructure Minister Matt Warman said: “Wales is a leading hub in our fast-growing cyber security sector, with cutting-edge firms and strong investment figures, as well as being home to some of the UK's top academic institutions.
“CYBERUK is an important milestone in the calendar so it's great to see it scheduled for next year.”
