UK Government extends lockdown for another three weeks

Lockdown across the UK has been extended by at least another three weeks, it was confirmed tonight.

Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab, outlined the restrictions going forward at a briefing in Downing Street.

He said any change to current measures now would cause more deaths and risk a second peak, damaging public health and the economy, so "current measures must stay in place for the next three weeks".

It follows the news that 20 people have died from coronavirus in South Ayrshire care homes since the start of the month.

A total of 16 deaths were confirmed yesterday by bosses at Prestwick's Berelands Care Home.

And on Monday, it was confirmed that four had passed away through deaths linked to Covid-19.
