UK flight diverts to Cork Airport as Gardai arrest woman on board with partner and kid

A passenger jet travelling from Spain to the UK had to divert to Cork on Sunday night after a disruptive passenger became too much for the crew to handle.

The Jet 2 flight en route from Fuerteventura to Manchester diverted to Cork after the captain and crew became concerned about the behavior of the woman, who was traveling with her partner and their child - CorkBeo reports.

Airport Police and Fire Service met the plane after it made its unexpected stop on the runway in Cork.

The woman - in her 30s - was arrested and will appear in court in Cork later today.

A spokesperson for CorkAirport told CorkBeo that gardai from Togher were called and interviewed the crew.

"The passenger was offloaded along with her partner and child," said the spokesperson.

"As there was no accommodation available for the partner and child, they reboarded the flight before it continued on to Manchester."

The flight landed safely in Manchester - Gardai in Togher are expected to liaise with their counterparts in Manchester as the investigation into the incident continues.

The woman will appear in court in Cork later today.
