Families were kept up at night and robbed of sleep due to the noise of a huge Russian plane carrying 300 dogs and cats.
Earlier in the evening many had enjoyed the sounds and sights of fireworks being set off in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year.
But once the fireworks had died down and Glaswegians were trying to get to sleep, many had to bury their heads under a pillow due to the sound of an altogether different object in the sky.
Global flight tracking service Flightradar24 picked up the flight path of an Ilyushin Il-76 as it flew over the outskirts of Glasgow before heading across Loch Lomond around 2:45am, Glasgow Live reports.

Despite being over 32,000 feet above the city, local reports suggest that the plane - which has a 50m wingspan - made nearly as much a 'racket' as the earlier fireworks.
It's little surprise given its nickname as 'the cargo beast', with the Soviet four-engine military transport aircraft built to carry a payload of 40 tonnes - the equivalent of around eight to 10 African elephants.

The flight last night saw it depart from Ankara in Turkey before landing in Iceland.
Rather than elephants on board, the plane was actually carrying 300 dogs and cats from the Kabul Small Animal Rescue on their way from Kabul to Vancouver.
