UK facing chocolate shortage of Galaxy, Maltesers and Bounty after factory 'breakdown'

Chocolate fans across the country have been left panicked after a "mechanical breakdown" led to a shortage of popular brands.

The Mars factory, which manufactures chocolates like Galaxy, Bounty and Maltesers, has been hit with a mechanical glitch.

The only good news is that Snickers and Milky Way haven't been affected by the technical hiccup, Manchester Evening News reports.

Mars Wrigley has confirmed to foodmanufacture.co.uk: "We're sorry some people aren't able to find their favourite chocolates at the moment.

"We've had a mechanical breakdown which means that we aren't able to make as many treats as we would like."

Many people are deeply concerned by the news, with one person writing: "When all you want is minstrels but apparently there a shortage on galaxy chocolate.

Another said: "People are worried about coronavirus, but this is the real crisis. My favourite bar to cheer me and the wife up."

A third joked: "In the UK we have a chocolate shortage but plenty of toilet roll! We know our priorities."
