UK Eurovision fans 'dare to hope' as Sam Ryder nails 'amazing' performance

By Katie Fitzpatrick

He's one of the favourites to win this year's Eurovision Song Contest and fans were daring to dream of victory after UK entry Sam Ryder delivered an 'amazing' performance of Space Man in the final. Viewers think TikTok sensation Sam is out best chance of victory in years and they flocked to Twitter to heap praise on his powerful voice and the melodic song co-written with Max Wolfgang and Ed Sheeran collaborator Amy Wadge.

The UK has won Eurovision five times. Its winners are Sandie Shaw with Puppet on a String, Lulu with Boom Bang-a-Bang, Brotherhood of Man with Save Your Kisses for Me, Bucks Fizz with Making Your Mind Up and its last win was with Katrina and the Waves with Love Shine a Light in 1997.

Miss_LewisMFL tweeted: "@SamRyderMusic YES!!! by FAR our best song in a very long time." @Arundaar gasped: "Actually really like the song, bloody hell I can't believe it."

@Jeffreyemiles wrote: "If Sam Ryder doesn't help the UK get into the Top 10 at least, nothing will. It's a genuinely good song and he nailed those high notes". @mikekeenan asked: " This is legitimately bloody brilliant isn’t it? Get in there Sam!"

@MittenDAmour commented: "This is legit one of the best of the night. I’m close to daring to hope we get top 10."@rycbar32_ said: "Sam Ryder was fantastic #Eurovision." And @Callum_Stott praised: "Sam Ryder totally nailed that and then some."

@Sportywagon applauded: "What a voice, what a song, what a performance. Best we've had for 20 years." And @Geniee said: "What an amazing performance."
