UK engineering group Costain opens multi-million pound tech centre in North Somerset

A national engineering and construction group has opened a multi-million pound technology centre in North Somerset.

UK-based tech infrastructure company Costain invested £3.5million in the site, which will be used to develop new technology.

The building will house 150 staff who will work on engineering, product development manufacturing and maintenance as well as digital systems integration.

The new facility has a virtual-reality suite that allows users to digitally submerge themselves in concepts and test designs.

The centre also has state-of-the-art 4k screens for staff and visitors, communal break-out spaces and demonstration areas.

Alex Vaughan, chief executive officer, said, “We started our technology investment in 2016 when we bought SSL based in Yatton.

“By investing in this new facility, we are continuing to support the growth of our digital technology services.

“Working in a cutting-edge environment will enable us to build our skills and deliver the best solutions for our clients.”
