UK election polls latest: Conservative Party lead down as Labour support creeps up, according to latest data

The gap between the Labour Party and the Conservative Party has narrowed in the run up to the general election, another poll has shown.

The latest numbers from Kantar have Boris Johnson’s Tory party sitting at 43 per cent support - down two points.

Then 11 points behind the Conservatives is Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour, which is up by five points on 32 per cent.

It comes following last week’s head-to-head debate between Mr Johnson and Mr Corbyn as well as the Question Time special in which the four main party leaders were quizzed by the studio audience.

The last week has also seen the two main parties launch their manifestos.

The polling of 1,097 people was carried out between Thursday and Monday.

It also saw Jo Swinson’s pro-Europe Liberal Democrats drop two points to 14 per cent, and Nigel Farage’s Brexit party lagging behind on three points - up by just one.

The poll is the second in two days to show a narrowing of the Conservatives’ lead.

On Monday, an ICM poll for Reuters gave the Conservatives a seven-point lead, down from 10 points a week earlier.
