UK election polls: Boris Johnson's lead over Jeremy Corbyn narrows as Labour makes gains

The Tory lead over Labour has narrowed ahead of the general election on December 12, the latest Survation polls show.

Labour made a 3 per cent gain, jumping from 26 to 29 per cent, while the Conservatives made marginal gains with a 1 per cent rise to 35 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats and the Brexit Party both fell by 2 per cent, dropping to 17 per cent and 10 per cent respectively.

The data was collected between November 6 and 8 from 2,037 people over the age of 18.

It comes after a Britain Elects poll released earlier showed the Tories going up from 38 per cent of the vote on November 2 to 39 per cent by November 11.

In that poll, Labour and the Liberal Democrats remain the same at 31 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. However, the Brexit Party's share fell from 9 per cent to 8 per cent.

The data for the Britain Elects poll was collected between November 8 and 11.

The Tories also remain the bookies' favourite to win the election, with the shortest odds putting them at 1/16 ahead of Labour at 10/1 and the Lib Dems at 50/1.

The latest poll was released after Mr Farage announced his decision on Monday to stand down Brexit Party candidates in Tory-held seats at the December 12 election.

In return, the Brexit Party leader called for Tories to stand aside in Labour-held seats to try to get more pro-Leave MPs elected.

The new data shows Labour creeping up on the Conservatives after Jeremy Corbyn criticised the Government's slow response to widespread flooding in northern England and announced ambitious plans for free education.
