UK opinion polls tracker: Gap narrows but Tories stay ahead on eve of the vote

Labour has slightly narrowed the gap on the Tories but Boris Johnson's party still looks set to be the biggest after the election, according to an average of the latest polls.

The Conservatives had maintained a steady 10-point lead in recent days but this has dropped to nine, as they sit on 43 per cent while Labour advances to 34.

The figures come from an average of polls from the last seven days, compiled by PA media.

It puts the Lib Dems down on 12 per cent, with the Brexit Party on three and the Greens on two.

This comes after YouGov's latest MRP poll suggested the Tories would gain a majority of 28 seats in the Commons - down from a previous survey which put them ahead by 68.

The electorate will head to the ballot boxes on Thursday, with party leaders mounting a last ditch bid for every last vote.
