The coronavirus death toll in the UK has reached 104 after 32 more deaths were confirmed in England.

The Department of Health said the 32 patients were aged between 59 and 94 years old and all had underlying health conditions.

It brings the UK death toll to 104 and England's to 99.

A statement from NHS England said: “A further 32 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 99.

"Patients were aged between 59 and 94 years old and had underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed.”

It comes after the number of coronavirus cases in the UK hit 2,626 on Wednesday.

The figure is correct as of 9am on Wednesday morning and includes all those who have been diagnosed since the outbreak began.

The jump of 676 cases is the highest single-day increase in the UK so far. At the same time on Tuesday, the figure was at 1,950.

It comes as more than 200,000 cases of confirmed coronavirus have been reported around the world, the World Health Organisation said.

And 8,000 people have lost their lives, the global health body said.
