UK Covid LIVE: Fully vaccinated won’t have to self-isolate, says Sajid Javid, as new rules for schools to be set out

People who are fully vaccinated will not have to self-isolate if they are a close contact of a coronavirus case from August 16, Sajid Javid has announced in the Commons.

“We will have a more proportionate system of test, trace and isolate, and it is absolutely right that those that have been double jabbed, we can take a different approach than the one we take today,” he told BBC Breakfast this morning.

It comes as parents and teachers will on Tuesday afternoon find out how the government plans to relax bubble rules that have led to large numbers of pupils being sent home if a single child tests positive.

Last week more than 375,000 children were sent home under the bubble system.
