Sajid Javid briefed MPs that lockdown would not end before July 19.
Speaking at 5pm on Monday afternoon, Mr Javid delivered first Commons statement since replacing Matt Hancock as Health Secretary.
Also, the Health Secretary paid tribute to Matt Hancock for “achieving a great amount in the work he did” when he spoke to MPs at the House of Commons.
Earlier in the day, Spain’s prime minister has announced all UK travellers will have to produce either a negative PCR test result or proof of vaccination for entry to the Balearic islands.
