UK Covid LIVE: Boris Johnson grilled at PMQs as Sir Keir Starmer says ministers ‘all over the place’ on pingdemic

Boris Johnson has been grilled by Sir Keir Starmer at Prime Minister’s Questions as the Labour leader said ministers were “all over the place” on the issue of isolation.

The Labour leader said people were “trying to follow the rules” but ministers are “making them up as they go along”.

In response Mr Johnson repeated the notion that isolation is an important tool in the fight against the virus and people should quarantine when told to do so.

It comes as France announced that public cultural venues and places of leisure that welcome more than 50 people will start checking people's health pass before allowing them in.

The health pass proves that the bearer has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, has already had the virus and is considered immune, or has received a negative test result in the past 48 hours. It comes the day after Health Minister Olivier Véran announced 18,000 new infections in 24 hours.
