The number of coronavirus cases in the UK has risen by 39,906 as a further 84 deaths are recorded.
Today's tragic death toll brings the UK total to 128,980.
This time last week, on Thursday July 15, the number of Covid-19 cases in the UK rose by 48,553 - which was the highest daily rise in six months.
A further 63 people died within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test, according to the figures released by the government.
Yesterday a further 73 coronavirus deaths were recorded in the UK - almost 50% up on the previous Wednesday when 49 fatalities were reported.
Government data up to July 21 shows that of the 83,021,749 Covid jabs given in the UK, 46,433,845 were first doses, a rise of 45,101 on the previous day.
36,587,904 were second doses, an increase of 183,338.
Today's figures come as figures show more than one million Brits are isolating after over 600,000 people people were 'pinged' by the NHS app in the week up to July 14.
A total of 618,903 people were sent an alert via the app in the last seven days, according to new data - rise of 16.7 per cent from the previous week.
And 475,465 people were identified as coming into close contact with someone who had tested positive over the same time period by Test and Trace, according to the Government.
Of this number, 94.3 per cent were reached and told to isolate - a total of 448,363.
The nation is currently in the grips of a so-called 'pingdemic', with fears the economy could grind to a halt if the problem persists.
Former health secretary Jeremy Hunt said the Government risks "losing social consent" for isolation if it does not immediately bring forward the relaxation of quarantine rules for the fully vaccinated.
Warnings of staffing shortages mounted as NHS figures showed 618,903 alerts were sent to users of the coronavirus app in England and Wales in the week to July 14, telling them they had been in close contact with someone who had tested positive for coronavirus.
Mr Hunt, who chairs the Health and Social Care Committee, urged ministers to bring forward the scheduled end of isolation for all fully vaccinated contacts who test negative from August 16.
